Sanuki Chochin originated as a dedication
the 88 templecalled Shikoku Hachiju Hakkasho
 before the 10th century.

Many chochin with marked designs of temples
were kept inshrines and Buddhist temples as
 a richly colored treasure.

”Sanju Ippon gake Chochin”,the special chochin
in japan, was invented in the beginning of Edo Era.

The Sanuki Chochin was used as a ceremonial
ornament when people prayed for the recovery
 from disease.

Sanju zukuri Chochin shows that the Dragon King is
on the first inside chochin, and covered with the second chochin
written sutra, then the finishing is done with the colorful chochin.
Today,we are designing a new artistic
 technique mixed with the classictechnique
 ”Shin Sanuki Ippongake”-tying Hig
              (a thin strip of bamboo).
This techinque of tying the Higo enables one to change
the shape of the Chochin (i.e.into a flower or a doll).

Now,we are in the process of creating a new
 versionof the Sanuki Chochin.

Recently,The Sanuki Chochin is in high demand
 forjapanese interior decoration,moreover,in the
many countries the Sanuki Chochin is introduced
and is in the limelight as”a work of art”.
